Molded fibre can protect, organize and present a product when designed as part of the full packaging system.
Start from the protected product
A molded-pulp insert begins with product geometry, weight and fragile zones. Cavities, ribs and contact points should support the item without concentrating pressure on vulnerable surfaces.
Design for tooling and release
Draft angles and wall transitions help the formed part release from tooling and maintain consistent strength. Ignoring them can create a shape that looks correct in CAD but is difficult to manufacture reliably.
Include the outer box in the test
The insert, product and paper outer pack work as one protective system. Drop, vibration, compression and packing tests should use the complete assembly rather than evaluating the tray by itself.
State environmental claims precisely
Fibre source, additives, coatings and local disposal systems affect end-of-life claims. Use language supported by the exact material specification and available documentation instead of applying a broad claim to every molded-fibre construction.
